Folio 6: The Midterm:
Assigned at the beginning of week 2. Due Week 8.

Objectives:
Practice the modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering pipeline.
Research through observation, understand through modeling, and re-cast through rendering.

2018-2020 Version
We begin in our sketchbook, finding objects from our world, and imagining how they would be formed in 3D space by slowing down and sketching through the process.

2021- Present: Design Morphology Of An Object Over A Century.
By 2021, I had begun to notice recurring subjects, similar to those I had encountered in other courses.
To counter this, I invented a prompt that grew over time. Accumulation is a subject of broad interest to me personally.

One day, all of these objects will be in one navigable room.

Morphology Prompt:
Part A: Choose an object from the list, or add your own with instructor approval—research and report on the design history of these objects. Look for reference images. Sketch the objects.

Part B: Model design iterations of your object, and render each one. Include a room that you will then render and submit.

RESEARCH PROCESS
Current iteration: students show in-progress wireframes along with their scene files.
The project culminates in a research statement rendered into the finished collection.
